Terrill Welch Gallery

Terrill Welch Gallery is a small art gallery at 428 Luff Road on Mayne Island, BC, showing original landscape and seascape paintings by Canadian painter Terrill Welch. The paintings hang in a self-browse gallery pod at her home studio, with oil paintings and acrylic sketches of the Salish Sea shoreline, Mayne Island and the West Coast. Her work is in collections across Canada, the United States, Europe, England and Australia, and you can buy directly from the artist. In summer (June to August) the gallery pod is open daily from 11 am to 4 pm for walk-in browsing with no appointment needed. From September to May, visits are by appointment or by chance, and pop-up openings are posted on Facebook. Arriving by float plane or boat at Miners Bay? Get in touch and Terrill may be able to meet you and drive you to the gallery. Call 250-744-4560 or email tawelch@shaw.ca.

Our Story

Terrill Welch was born in 1958 in Vanderhoof, in north-central British Columbia, and was invited into an adult painting class when she was fourteen. She went on to take many college-level drawing and painting courses and taught oil painting from life in natural light for several years before turning her focus fully to her own studio practice.

Her subject is the West Coast, especially the places where land meets water around the Salish Sea and here on Mayne Island. She paints mostly in oils, often working directly from life, along with acrylic sketches. Her paintings now hang in collections in Canada, the United States, Europe, England and Australia, and she has been connecting collectors with landscape paintings for more than 30 years.

In August 2017 she opened the Terrill Welch Gallery at her home on Luff Road, a container gallery pod where visitors can browse at their own pace and buy directly from the artist.
