Anne-Maree Fortes is a Mayne Island-based artist, designer, and passionate paper quiller.

Working with meticulously cut and shaped strips of paper, Anne-Maree transforms flat mediums into breathtaking works of dimensional art. From the rhythmic concentric patterns of her abstract geometric compositions to intricately detailed coastal scenes like local lighthouses and native flora, every piece captures a unique sense of texture, movement, and light.

Her original framed artworks can be viewed in person at the Mayne Island Resort. Beyond her studio practice, Anne-Maree loves sharing her craft with the community, occasionally offering hands-on paper quilling classes through MIALS (Mayne Island Assisted Living Society). Her pieces serve as captivating, tactile focal points that celebrate both fine craftsmanship and island life.

Cae of the Sky is the creative studio of Caeona Wicks, an illustrator, designer and permaculture gardener working from a small farm on Mayne Island. Her art is full of fairies, mushrooms, botanicals, cats and a little bit of magic.

Shop her whimsical vinyl stickers, art cards, bookmarks, art prints, acrylic pins and original paintings, plus printable colouring pages and the Fungi and Fairywine colouring book, with favourites like the Amanita Mushroom, Daffodil Fairy, Luna Moth on Lilacs and Alice in Wonderland.

Cole Carter is an abstract fluid and ink artist whose work explores freedom, movement, and bold emotion through the untamed energy of alcohol and India inks.

This curated collection brings together her one of a kind original pieces, ranging from surreal character studies and dreamlike landscapes to high contrast monochrome movements, alongside a selection of art cards that make her expressive ink creations accessible for everyday correspondence and sharing.

Meet Donna DuBock, an abstract mixed media painter working from her shoreline studio, "The Villa," in Village Bay on Mayne Island. Originally from Dorset, UK, Donna trained at the Art Institute in Bournemouth before a long career in health and social care, then returned fully to painting after moving to BC in 2014.

Her work blends acrylic, collage and texture, often inspired by the wildlife and coastal scenery she encounters while sailing: poppy fields, hummingbirds, herons, foxgloves and West Coast seascapes. Alongside her original canvases, she also offers art prints, greeting cards, notebooks and printed home goods featuring her designs.

Krylo Crystal Creations is the work of Laurie, a crystal jewellery maker in Edmonton, Alberta, who makes every piece by hand. We found her work and loved it so much we wanted to share it with Mayne Island.

Meet Wendy from Purple Butterfly Studios. Her connection to Mayne Island spans her entire life. Having grown up visiting the family home here, the island remains a core part of her story, especially with her mom living on Mayne Island full-time. A VCC Metal Art and Design graduate, Vancouver Metal Arts Association President, and Artist in Residence at Granville Island, Wendy combines technical craft with deep personal inspiration to create wearable keepsakes built to last a lifetime.

Her work features handcrafted sterling silver, copper, and gold jewelry. Inspired by the symbol of the purple butterfly, her work celebrates grace, resilience, and personal transformation through fine, contemporary metalwork.

Rooted in a deep connection to the land and the animals they work with, the collection from The Healing Place features an ever-changing array of handmade ceremonial drums, artisanal fallow tallow skincare, original wood panel artwork, and one-of-a-kind goods. Because everything is crafted from available natural materials rather than mass-produced, each piece—from wildlife panels depicting ravens, deer, wolves, and bison to custom-painted hides—carries its own distinct spirit and story.

Waters Edge Silver is the studio of Mayne Island silversmith Jess Phillips, who turns recycled sterling silver, ocean-tumbled sea glass and beach stones into jewellery shaped by the coast around her home.

Her pieces are cast from real shells, barnacles and sand, from Sea Urchin and Moonsnail earrings to the Kelp Cuff, Marble Sea Star pendants, Hag Stone rings and sea glass bracelets, each with the organic texture of the shoreline.

West Coast Sea Glass is the work of Brenda Dewynter, who collects sea glass and worn pottery from local beaches and turns it into one-of-a-kind greeting cards and jewellery.

Each piece is made from recycled glass and ceramics that were tumbled smooth by the ocean, then handmade into birds, flowers, mushrooms, jewellery and more. A little piece of the beach to send to someone, or to wear.
